Tickets can additionally be marketed and sold via RailAway thanks to direct integration!

Digital event marketing made easy – thanks to the interface, organizers can create events in the TICKETINO cockpit and automatically distribute them via guidle to media, event calendars, and more, making them visible locally and nationally.

What It’s About

  • SBB promotes excursion offers that can be booked via RailAway as a combined package with public transport tickets.

  • Thanks to the interface, suitable events can also be sold via TICKETINO through SBB’s high-reach sales channels.

  • RailAway only considers events with large ticket contingents or regular activities and requires a minimum discount of 20 percent.

  • Organisers benefit from SBB’s extensive marketing reach but are also expected to actively promote their offer.

  • When a booking is made, a scannable ticket is generated in the TICKETINO system; revenues are first paid to SBB and then settled to the organiser after deduction of commission.

“Would you like to take a day trip in Switzerland by train? Or are you looking for excursion ideas in Europe? Choose a region, an activity, and you will receive attractive offers. Enjoy your trip and have a pleasant journey.”

With this slogan, SBB promotes excursion destinations that can be booked at a discount as a combined offer including public transport tickets via RailAway.

Thanks to the interface between RailAway and the TICKETINO system, you can also sell your events (if suitable) through SBB’s high-reach sales channels and benefit from their marketing support.

What type of event or activity is suitable for distribution via RailAway?
Unfortunately, SBB cannot accommodate every event. The requirements are larger ticket contingents for single events or regular scheduling for activities. This is because ticket management by SBB is time-consuming, and they want to keep the offer clear and attractive.

If you want to use this sales channel, SBB expects a discount on admission (at least 20%). Commission and setup fees are negotiable. If interested, it’s best to contact RailAway directly.

What are the benefits of offering tickets via RailAway?
The RailAway concept is based on reciprocal benefits. SBB primarily provides you with marketing services within the public transport network—offering a reach with potentially high impact and premium pricing. In return, as an organiser, you are expected to promote the offer through your own channels as well.

Ideally, this creates a “win-win situation,” where SBB sells more public transport tickets and you sell more event or activity tickets.

How does the solution work?
If RailAway accepts your events or activities, they create an “excursion” in their shop and link your ticket categories to their combined ticket. When a customer books a RailAway offer (train ticket & activity/event), a ticket with the customer’s details is generated in the TICKETINO system, and the SBB ticket code is recorded. This makes the RailAway ticket scannable using the TICKETINO ScanApp (or an alternative validation solution).

Ticket revenue is collected by SBB and then paid out to you after deduction of SBB’s commission. Within the TICKETINO system, the ticket is treated like a free ticket (organiser ticket or cash-paid ticket).
